I am the founder of Living Loaves and the creator of “Betty.” I’m so happy and excited you landed here on my page! I am not sure where you are at with your sourdough journey, but if you’re new to it, I hope my story will encourage you to take the plunge. 

For years, I saw friends and influencers posting beautiful and mouthwatering sourdough pictures on social media and felt so intrigued to try. I am a baker at heart and have been baking for as long as I can remember, but honestly, bread is the only thing I haven’t tried. For some reason, it seemed so intimidating, especially the precisely designed artisan boule loaves and the “maintaining” of the starter. My heart was yearning to try, and yet crippled by intimidation, I only continued to marvel at other people’s work wishing “I could do that.” After hounding a good friend of mine with a million questions, she almost literally threw a jar of sourdough starter in my hands and said, "Try it already." The next morning would start the most amazing whirlwind adventure I never could have anticipated. I have baked bread almost every day since that moment, and I am now running a small bread business out of my home, which has been such a blessing. I am a homeschooling mom of three boys who lives on coffee, carbs, and Jesus! Because we live a wild, fun, beautiful, fast-paced life, my bread-making is a special space for me to utilize the baking gift the Lord gave me and slow down and do me. It brings me such joy to bake delicious, beautiful bread for my family, friends, and customers. With all that said, I wanted to find a way to share that joy with everyone thinking of giving sourdough a shot, so here we are.

I named my Sourdough starter Betty. It might sound weird, but trust me, I promise you’ll name yours once you start too! So, if you have been thinking about it, this is your sign to go for it! You won’t regret it! I’m so blessed I can share Betty with you, and I hope you experience all the joy of making yummy sourdough creations as I have.
